Colors make the World go round

Welcome back to another episode of A'lil Hoohaa's monthly photo blog challenge. This month, PJ, our host, picked "Colors that make the World go round" for us to interpret.

I had big plans that included a trip to the airport, but you know how it goes. The days flew by, and here go anyway:

April was not only our month off ice hockey, Colin was also off school for two weeks, so traditionally we went to the mall one day where we always enjoy the sushi train which makes our lunch world go round. Literally ;-)

Colin participated in an Easter Art Contest, and I got him some new supplies:

Every year in spring this vintage ferris wheel makes our days brighter and our wallets lighter! No better way though than to make our little world in Zurich, Switzerland, go round!

No current pictures, but the fit the prompt so well:

I loved the colorful locker rooms at Fish Hoek beach, a pretty little fishermen's town at the Eastern part of the Cape and halfway between Cape Town and the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.

We have visited the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town several times, mostly during the day, though. V&A stands for Victoria and Alfred, Victoria being the Queen of England and Alfred her second son (Victoria and her husband Albert had nine children) who - as the first member of the Royal Family - visited the Cape Colony harbor in 1860 as a 16yo Navy Midshipman and reportedly made an impression, that's how one basin got named after him.

It's always a good idea to honor the Mom as well, hence the other basin's name is Victoria.

The swing bridge below connects two basins.

So at night it makes the tourist attraction go round by being colorful!

PS: with a reign of almost 64 years, Victoria was the longest-reigning Queen in the world history - until her great-great-granddaughter and current Queen of England, Elizabeth II, surpassed her a couple of years ago. Speaking about "long live the Queen"!

Those were my five, I hope you enjoyed them. For more colors that make the world go round head over to A 'lil Hoohaa's blog and check out the other contributions.

  1. Congrats on putting this together, despite being involved with the A to Z Challenge! That swing bridge at night looks spectacular. Must be awesome in person. Queen Elizabeth's longevity is truly amazing. Charles must be so tired of waiting! Maybe they'll just skip him altogether and move on to William (the more popular choice). ☺

  6. A very nice selection of photos for the theme. And I am not sure what it is ... but I always like shots like your colored pencil one. Be it crayons or pencils etc. ... something about them. I like that one. Nice work!
