Ultimate Blog Challenge - Black Jack or Blogging is like Cooking

Welcome back, it's Day 21 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge, and our host Paul wishes he were in Las Vegas so he could yell Black Jack! Who says you can't do so anyway?

Today we got a selection of prompts:

Look into the future  - I have done that during the November UBC

Compare things - for example "Blogging is like Cooking"

Ha! That's actually not too far fetched!

Some bloggers like to approach their job very structured and methodically. They use word counts, SEO-friendly expressions, map out a series of posts, hire guest bloggers, etc. Once published, they'll share their post on social media. Experience and stats tell them what platforms and what times are most successful. You know the drill, you're probably one of them, and I applaud your discipline and organization.

How does this translate to cooking? People who are this organized, will take inventory of their fridge and pantry on a regular basis. That way they know what needs to be used up soon. They create their weekly meal plan and write the appropriate shopping list. The list considers the aisles at the supermarket. Once in the kitchen, they like to use recipes with measurements and detailed instructions.

Then there are the other ones. They go with the flow. They are constantly being hit by ideas but have a hard time sitting down and actually implement them. So many posts to write, so much networking to do and so much fun to have. We don't care too much about concepts and analytics. We have stories to tell. In our minds there are a dozen tabs open all.the.time.

Buzz, buzz.

Our folders are overflowing with memes, pictures and pins.

How do we do in the kitchen? Again, we go with the flow. We may crave Mexican food. If we're lucky there's a Taco stand not far from where we live or work. If not, we may watch a tutorial on YouTube. Never mind if the ingredients come in U.S. quantities or in metrics, we'll eyeball it anyway. Following recipes and instructions is tedious. We get the job done and enjoy the result.

Probably we're already thinking about dessert.

How about you? Which team are you on?

PS: This is my 1,101st post. There are some celebratory cookies for you over here.

  1. I plan then forget something or don't have time and end up winging it. I'm sure that my blog would get more hits if I did the things that you suggest. Someday!

  3. Congrats on your x number of posts! I write, cook and everything else off the cuff. I should plan more just to see if I would get better results.

  4. I don't plan meals much, especially since we all eat something different here and at different times. Much the same way I blog...when I'm prompted or feel like I have something important to say!.
