UBC October 2024 - Goodbye to Summer

Hello Summer,

How are you doing, is everything going well with you? You totally disappeared on me from one day to the next? Temperatures were literally dropping the first week of September by more than 20° Celsius! (That's 30° Fahrenheit)

Wearing shorts and T-shirt one day, I unexpectedly grabbed sweater, boots, a jacket and even a scarf, and yet I got sick :-(

Bygones.

I must say, you’re quite the tease. One moment we’re having the best time with ice cream, BBQs, and endless sunshine, and then poof — you ghost me without so much as a goodbye!

And don’t even get me started on that thunderstorm you left behind. It felt like your dramatic exit ruined half the neighborhood! The flooding was your cherry on top, wasn’t it?

Despite your dramatic exit, I want to thank you for some truly awesome experiences. Exploring the Giessbach Falls and "BadRagartz" with its stunning mountain backdrop was a highlight, as was attending the Taylor Swift concert with my teenage son—complete with friendship bracelet making beforehand.

And who could forget our weekend in Munich celebrating our company's 30th anniversary? Those moments truly made summer special.

So, until we meet again next year, I’ll be waiting—probably under a blanket, drinking hot cocoa, wondering where it all went wrong.

With hope (and a lot of layers),

Tamara

Hello fellow Bloggers! This was my attempt at my friend Tara's 5 minutes writing prompt below.

How did I do? What would you say to summer in your goodbye letter this year?

If you stumbled upon this post by chance, here's what UBC is all about: UBC stands for Ultimate Blogging Challenge. It takes place four times a year. We write and post every day throughout the months of October, January, April and July. So today we kick of the fall season, so to speak. See you back tomorrow!

  1. Beautiful photos. I can't wait till it gets cooler in Florida.

  2. Loved your "talk" with summer! As for South Carolina, it's still summery weather, among some rain and then the devastating hurricane that wiped out so many areas in western SC and NC. The coast was fine, this storm went 500 miles plus inland! Glad to see you back in the challenge!

  3. That was a neat letter! I loved the summary of your good memories. I'm not sure what I would say in my own letter. I'd probably say I would miss the warmth but was looking forward to fall leaves and long cardigans. Good to see you again for another challenge.

  4. Love it! It had gone from sunny to dreary in PA in the last few weeks. What a shock! I’m still hoping for a bit of Indian summer.

  5. Tamara, your summer weather sounds like ours. But I think you had more fun. Love your photos.
