Every now and then a list pops up that sums up what it means to be “old.”
I almost ended up with 18 points, but then… growing up in Switzerland, the land of banking, I never used a checkbook, until I moved to the U.S. in 2001 and suddenly needed one to pay bills.
The one thing I never had was a water bed, and I don’t even think it belongs on this list. Instead, here are ten things I think should be included:

Played Donkey Kong and Tetris

Rode a bike without a helmet

Waited for certain times of day when phone calls were cheaper

Wore fishnet tank tops and neon legwarmers

Parents smoked in the house

Rented movies from a video store

Got sent to the store as a kid to buy cigarettes or beer for your parents

Waited a week for the next episode of a show

Memorized friends’ landline numbers

Traded Panini stickers and had duplicates

What fun! I am 20 points old on the list in the picture (never had a water bed myself but a cousin did and one time when my aunt and uncle were babysitting my brother and I as little kids we slept in the cousins bed ).. I scored 9 out of 10 on your list, I don't know what Panini stickers are.

ReplyDeleteI am 19 points old. Never had an AOL email adddress, since I didn't get a PC until 2008, and there were many other options by then. Didn't own a waterbed, but used one when sleeping overnight at a friend's house. It was pretty comfortable, actually.
