☕ Coffee Journey - Non-Coffee Drinker

Welcome back to my Coffee Journey, a joint post for A - Z 2022 and the Ultimate Blog Challenge.

If you're a Non-Coffee Drinker, first of all, I want to thank you for sticking around and reading my post(s)! You're a star!

Also, if you live outside the U.S. you're among the majority, as 60 - 70% of the world population don't consume coffee every day. In the United States, however, that number drops to 35%. Americans really love their coffee.

I am a former non-coffee drinker, I talked about it in my post about coffee types, and by the way,  the reason for not liking coffee was I just had not tasted my kind of coffee yet.

But let's put that aside, I'm not here to convert you.

Except if you love coffee but can't enjoy it because it makes your stomach upset. In that case you may want to give Indonesian coffee a chance. It's very low in acidity and therefore easily digestible.

The fact that I was a Non-Coffee Drinker, didn't mean I didn't live off caffeine. I was a Diet Coke Drinker, and later a Coke Zero Drinker. Several bottles a day. At times it was bad. One day I actually had to sneak out of the office to go the grocery store for a Sixpack.

During pregnancy I cut back drastically, and years later I quit.

Today I enjoy Coke -as in Coca-Cola -  "reasonably".

By the way, my husband is on Team Nespresso!!!

While I think it's unacceptable, I won't interfere, and he will also confirm that I'm more than OK with him not drinking wine. Yes, it'd be nice to share a glass - on the other hand when we go out, I never have to worry about driving.

I can't believe these people though... Go ahead and google "Non-Coffee Drinker", and you'll end up with articles like

  • Coffee for Non-Coffee Drinkers
  • Things to consider when dating a Non-Coffee Drinker

And then there's a video of a guy who claimed to hate the taste of coffee. He drank coffee for 30 days to fid out how it affected his productivity, his sleep and his overall energy. After the 30 days he stopped and had withdrawal symptoms. He will now continue to drink and somewhat like coffee.

I'ml like why?

But hey, his life, his decision.

So I'm curious: what's your favourite beverage if you don't drink coffee? Do you enjoy a similar ritual, like do you make yourself a cup of tea or a smoothie in the morning? Will you still enjoy a trip to the coffee store with your friends?

  5. TamilNadu in India is known for its filter coffee, a way of brewing the coffee. Our coffee always has milk ( more than 60%) and so we can say its easier ... i love hazelnut coffee ... in recent years i have developed a liking for green tea , black tea of different flavors and chamomile too

  9. I was a coffee drinker for many years while I was working. I could drink coffee any time of day or night and not have trouble sleeping b/c I was a shift worker and always tired. I gave up coffee after retiring. Now I am a tea drinker and an occasional coffee drinker.

  10. Definitely a coffee drinker, although I prefer light to medium blends, not strong and I like an occasional flavored coffee (Pumpkin Spice, Mocha, Vanilla, mint are some of them). I do drink flavored teas at night before bed as well. Loving your posts. I did share some of them with my daughter, the ex-Starbucks barista. Happy Sunday!

  11. Was it Starbucks that changed you from a non-coffee drinker to a coffee drinker? And when you say "cake" do you mean you eat cake or is that a coffee flavor? Inquiring minds want to know. ♥ So if I didn't drink coffee I'd have to start my day with a glass of merlot and then I wouldn't get anything done at all. Although I do like a nice cup of Earl Grey tea so that might be an option. I am loving your Starbucks posts even though I'm not commenting on all of them. And blogger doesn't have an option to just click "LIKE".
Oh and take out the [brackets] from the linky or it will pop up with http 404 error. I will update the post to include that.
    Cheers,
