UBC January 2024 - Prompt Generator

I've been wanting to try one of these online random subject generators. So today I was using Hubspot. You get to choose five key words.

Then you may pick from a number of suggestions. Here's the one that amused and challenged me:

140? Are you kidding? Does this app go back to a time where the platform, formerly known as Twitter, only allowed that many characters?

Well, here goes:

She’s a dedicated parent who does laundry, gear maintenance, prepares snacks, packs gear, drives, negotiates with school, waits and cheers.

Boom. 139 characters. My blog post is done. You're welcome.

OK, here's another one:

I really wish! Something happens between the time people raise their toddlers until the kids grow up and are members of society.

I mean, think about it. As parents you try to teach your children that they must comply with what has been agreed, and that actions have consequences. If you don't do your homework, you'll get in trouble with your teacher. If you don't wear your warm jacket, you catch a cold. If you don't hold on to your belongings, they 're gone.

So what is it that happens? How is it that people get away with doing whatever suits them?

  • Doesn't the preaching teaching stick?
  • Do the kids think they know better
  • Do people think the rules only apply to other people?
  • Are supervisors at work too soft?
  • Are voters too forgiving?

I really don't have the answers. I'm afraid some parents did not follow through on their preaching, and that's not doing the world a service, but that can't be all.

What do you think? (And how would you introduce your role, using only 140 characters?)

  1. Random generators sounds interesting, I'll have to try that! I don't have a clue as to what happens to those toddlers that grow up and do what they want without any consequences. Way too much going wrong with some grown up kids!

  2. I agree so much with this post. Where have the rules gone to? Do people think there are rules because people just want to be mean?

  3. Hmm. "I help lightworkers use healing self-care rituals to connect with their true selves." What a funny idea generator!

  4. Seriously...what has happened to basic civility? The world has gone crazy and a lot has to do with the parents thinking their little "angel" can do no wrong. This sends the message to the child that there are no rules that apply to them and that's how they behave as they grow up.
