UBC October 2024 - Haunted House

Welcome back - I feel like I'm running out of time...

I had a wonderful day I'd love to share with you.

In Colin's class, several lessons were unexpectedly canceled, and we treated ourselves to a short trip into the city, back to the restaurant where they push unpopular employees down the stairs :-)

From there he took the train to school, and I took a different train to the Haunted House.

It is the home of a Canadian/Swiss family who make a huge effort every year to transform their garden into a Halloween paradise.

I like all of her decorations, except the dolls - they are very creepy!

Being Canadian, of course her kids play hockey - well not today, they aren't ;-)

It's right on a main road, so as a passer-by you can just walk past, marvel - and take photos. I only know the woman from Instagram, I write her a thank you every time and she always tells me to come by when she's there, which I did today and finally got to meet her in person.

She told me last year there were over 500 trick or treaters visiting her house, and she was expecting even more this year, including me. "It looks way cooler in the dark, and we have music, too."

So I will have to figure out how to visit two places that are located in opposite direction from my home the same night on Thursday and get Colin to his friends' party. I guess I'll leave early? Can you guess his costume?

  1. His costume is quite eclectic. Not sure what I would name it! Also, the ladies home is remarkable! How fun! I also am not wild about the dolls, though. I love dolls and seeing them like this makes my eyes bug out! I'm sure you will be able to pull off your activities -

  5. What a super Halloween display and the pumpkin is huge! It was nice that you finally got to meet the brainchild of this display, did she say how long it takes to get everything arranged? Not sure what Colin's costume is, maybe a special agent to something? Whatever it is, hope he has an awesome time!
