In February, A lil Hoohaa launched a monthly video challenge, first topic being "Potpourri". In March he invited us to tell our personal story. For the April project he sent us to experience some outdoor adventures.
Now to some, an outdoor adventure may consist of camping, bungee jumping, canyoning, mountain climbing or skydiving, and all of this can easily be done in Switzerland.
If you know me though, you are aware that this is not me, not by far. I totally see myself filming these activities, done and enjoyed by other people ;-)
The best I could do to get out of my comfort zone was to get up early and head to the forest for some bird watching. This was supposed to become the centrepiece of my video.
Using the Merlin Bird App, I identified 14 different birds, most of which I didn't actually spot. Also, my camera barely recorded the chirping and singing, so I had to use a sound file for a better effect.
I decided flowers were a safer bet, and I used some footage from last spring when my Mom and I visited the tulip festival in Montreux at Lake Geneva. Another time I traveled to Saxon in the Canton of Valais, which is famous for growing apricots. The blooming trees were definitely worth the three hours' drive each way.
On a whim I set out to explore Siky Park, an organization taking care of animals that come from rescues, confiscations by the veterinary office and surrenders, be it from a circus or private owners. The good news is the gorgeous tigers get to enjoy their well-deserved retirement. The not so good news is that this is exactly what they do: Lie around and enjoy the sunny morning ;-)
Finally Mom and I went on another spring field trip. I had read about "ArtGarden", a horticultural exhibition in a the small town of Wil in the Eastern part of Switzerland. Ten landscaping companies set up gorgeous sceneries right in the shopping passenger zone.
On our way back we stopped in Zurich for a Ferris Wheel Ride on the lake shore. The view was wonderful, so you could see the snow-capped mountains.
This is the link to the video.
I hope you enjoyed tagging along. Let me know what your idea of an outdoor Adventure is!
