My 14-Year Blogversary 🍒🍫

Friends, can you believe it, I skipped two blogversaries?! My last one was to celebrate 11 years of blogging in 2023.

Back then, I deviated from the original recipe by using raspberries in a brownie instead of cherries. Ten days ago I had the opportunity to go cherry picking.

Colin's friend, who lives up a hill, invited us, and it was lovely.

We harvested almost 3kg. Pitting was painful, and the kitchen looked like a crime scene, but it was time to make up for what I missed three years ago, right?

The cherry brownies turned out absolutely delicious. here's the recipe:

Ingredients:

185g butter (1 2/3 sticks or 13 tablespoons)

200g dark chocolate 65% cocoa (7 ounces)

3 eggs

110g white sugar (1/2 cup)

110g brown sugar (1/2 cup)

85g flour (2/3 cup + 1 tablespoon)

40g cocoa powder (1/2 cup)

300g pitted cherries (2 cups) 🍒

1 tablespoon Vanilla

1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

1 pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Melt the butter and chocolate together and let cool slightly.
  • Whisk eggs, erythritol, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt.
  • Stir in the chocolate mixture.
  • Fold in flour and cocoa powder.
  • Fold in the cherries.
  • Spread into a parchment-lined 8 × 10 inch pan.
  • Bake until the edges are set and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.

  • Baking

    Pan: 8 × 10 inch (I used a 19 × 25 cm pan)
    Oven: 350°F (175°C) conventional or 340°F (170°C) convection/fan
    Time: 28–35 minutes

The German idiom "mit jemandem ist nicht gut Kirschen essen", literally "It's no fun eating cherries with someone", best translated as “it’s no picnic dealing with someone” means that a person is very difficult to get along with, unforgiving, moody, or aggressive. When someone uses this expression, they mean that it’s best not to mess with that person, since there’s no chance of reaching a peaceful resolution.

Let me know if you tried this recipe!
