Elf on the Shelf, Season 2019, Episode 5

Last week, Cookie, our Elf on the Shelf, reminded us of good times with Nino Niederreiter,  encouraged us to go and visit the Coca-Cola truck and to brush our teeth after enjoying donuts. Cookie asked questions about a reindeer's antlers and of course hockey.

Regulars Elves say goodbye to their hosts and go back to the North Pole after Christmas Eve.

Not our Elf, though. Traditions has it that Cookie hangs around for a few more days to join us in watching the Spengler Cup, the popular international hockey tournament taking place in Davos, Switzerland, between Dec 26 - 31.

Let's see what she's up to this special week.

If you're new here: Cookie's question of the day yields a word or a name. The initial letter will contribute to a solution word.

What do you call this?

Toasted Marshmallow ___ Chocolate

A goal scored when the opposing goalie is not on the ice.

After winning the title in the Czech Extra League, HC _______ Třinec accepted the invitation to the 93rd Spengler Cup.

They’re not the Sedins; their dob is Jan 28, 1991 and August 14, 1992 – who are they?

Actually John and Carl Klingberg even have a younger brother, Ollie. The things you learn if you care to google!

There's a joke, too: How do snowmen get around? - They ride an icicle.

Alternate question for non-hockey fans: name a Christmas movie about a boy who tends to get left behind at home or in NYC.

I didn't remember this guy appeared in the movie :-(

When a player gets hit so hard that he loses equipment, usually a helmet, gloves and/or stick. (The term is "yard sale", I came across it by accident and thought it was fitting.)

Obviously the solution word was HOCKEY, duh.

This concludes our Elf on the Shelf's 2019 adventures. Not sure about a comeback next year, even though C still liked to see Cookie this season. We'll see.

Thank you for being part of the fun!
