Welcome to February's Secret Subject Swap.
Again five brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.
Here are links to all the sites now featuring Secret Subject Swap posts.

Create a yearly holiday for all to celebrate.
What is it and when will it be?
It was submitted by: Baking In A Tornado - thank you, Karen!
Well, whatever holiday I am going to come up with, I can tell you first off when it will not be: in December. Way too crowded ;-)
Do you think people will be ready to celebrate in January already? My proposed holiday is January 17, that's when Timo Meier, a Swiss born and raised hockey player scored five goals for the San Jose Sharks this year.
Oh, wait, bad idea. That's MLK Day, let's not interfere there!
February is taken, too with Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras, even though it falls on March 1st this year.
March is my birthday, St. Patrick's Day and Purim. In some years Easter is in March, and for a lot of folks it's spring break time.
April is dedicated to observe Passover and Ramadan. Not a good time for a universal celebration, especially if it includes food. What good is a celebration if there's no food, right?
Hockey fans are busy in May. NHL playoffs and the World Championships are - hopefully - taking place. This year they'll be hosted by Finland, that's in our time zone, so we get to watch most evening games.
June? Is anybody available in June? Besides graduation parties, there must be room to fit in another celebration?
Cause frankly, in July there are national holidays going on in Canada and the U.S., plus people go away on road trips and beach vacation. July 30 is the Islamic New Year.
August? Should we have a party in August? Anything going on besides August 1st, which is Switzerland's national holiday?
September it's already time to get back to school, in Canada they're celebrating Thanksgiving, and let's not forget Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and in October is Yom Kippur, Sukkot, then Halloween.
Busy times! November it's Thanksgiving throughout the U.S., and people can't wait to deck the halls.
So all in all June and August look pretty good.
My holiday for everybody to celebrate with a huge party is
🎉 The end of the Corona pandemic 🥂🍾
The debate on the exact date is still ongoing - wanna weigh in?
I'm thinking along the lines of an international food festival, sort of a potluck buffet. I'll bring an assortment cheeses of Switzerland
There will be live bands playing! Remember "concerts"? You may sing along, dance, clap and scream!
You may attend without showing proof of vaccination or a current negative test.
Everywhere you will meet friends, acquaintances and also new people. Go ahead, shake hands, hug them, don't be shy!
Enjoy seeing people's maskless smiles!
Only downside: you'll have to get out of your PJs and wear real clothes ;-) OK, a kimono is fine.
Will you be there? What do you bring?
I would LOVE to attend your party, can't think of anything better to celebrate right about now. And sure hope it's coming up soon.
ReplyDeleteWell, June is sometimes filled with weddings. My birthday is in March too, the 10th! I like your reason to celebrate.

Celebrations lift our spirits be it rum, scotch, or whatever spirit you like
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking this holiday should be an international holiday. In other words, a day off for everybody in all parts of the world. Maybe a full week. We can wish, right?
ReplyDeleteI like August. The 21st is my wedding anniversary (31 this year!) so we always try to plan a little something.
ReplyDeleteThat would be something to celebrate, for sure! I'll bring seafood linguine and a bottle of Santa Margarita Pinot Grigio. ☺ BTW, we have a bank holiday in Canada, the first Monday in August, called simply "Civic Holiday". Canadian Thanksgiving is the second Monday in October. I would go with June. Looking forward to the day we can go to a concert again - hopefully end of March. Fingers crossed!
