UBC October 2024 - Fall Bracelets

Hello and welcome back to another episode of October's UBC!

Today's post will be a bit shorter — work has been keeping me busy lately. But I wanted to take a moment to share something that brings me joy, which, as Jeanine. reminded us, is important to recognize in our lives.

Inspired by the bracelet-making fun we had before the Taylor Swift concert, I decided to create some fall-themed ones! Since they’re hard to read in photos, here’s a quick rundown: Seattle Seahawks, complete with a little football bead; Jucker Farm, which is my happy pumpkin place, Starbucks Coffee, featuring a coffee mug; sweater weather; pumpkin spice; and, of course, "leaves are falling."

Speaking of leaves, have you noticed how vibrant the fall foliage seems this year? Apparently, the intensity of autumn colors is influenced by a mix of factors — temperature, moisture, and sunlight. Cooler nights and sunny days tend to bring out the brighter reds and oranges, while just the right amount of rain earlier in the season helps the leaves stay on trees longer, making the colors even more vivid.

I mean, right??

Oh, and I also made a bracelet that says "get the vote out."

A few days ago, Paul encouraged us to talk about the upcoming elections, so here we go. While I can't vote as I'm not American, if I could, I’d cast my ballot for Kamala Harris. Not only is it time for a smart woman to lead, but I also strongly dislike her opponent’s dishonest and generally unpleasant behavior.

So, I’ll leave you with that bold statement and would love to hear your thoughts—what's your take?

  2. I love the vibrant leaves. Here in Northwest New Jersey we are just passed our autumnal peak. I have enjoyed them greatly. I will be visiting my other home in Central California, where they will just be getting into changes... looking forward to that.

I am an American Independent voter who is all in for Harris/Walz for so many reasons.

I like to listen to a BBC podcast to hear what people outside the US are thinking about our elections and culture. It is very interesting to me.

I feel like we have been living a nightmare since the 2016 election. Praying this election starts to move our life in a better direction again. Joy and Love, not Division, Hate & Going Backwards.

  3. Love these!
Maybe a decade ago, my Moms Group friends and I met at Teri's home, and made brackets for an upcoming Silent Auction at our church.
We agreed at the outset if we liked one we made, we could purchase it for the suggested bid before hand! She had some great stone and glass beads and charms, and I includes a yin yang bead and an octagonal charm with the trigrams!
My folks always voted considering the person and issues, (they were in different parties) - my daughter remembers me taking her to register. She loved hearing my mom talk about my grandpa taking grandma to register when women got the vote.
I'm also pro Harris and Walz for so many reasons.

On public radio last week, and fellow who's been studying the political climate said that many in the 'other camp' are going off the spiels from 2017, and haven't really paid attention to actions and attitudes. ...
