UBC January 2025 - Top Twelve

Welcome to the January 2025 Edition of the Ultimate Blog Challenge!

Yes, here we are again, posting every day for an entire month!

As I sit here enjoying the cinnamon apple scented candle I got from my Secret Santa, (post is being published soon) I am reflecting on the year that was just coming to an end. What better way than to use pictures, right?

If you're on Instagram, you can find out what your Top Nine posts were by entering your user name here. That's what I did, and here are the results:

I feel like these do not justice to my 2024, and an annual review should include twelve pictures anyway!

So here's my personal Top Twelve, well, I was counting loosely 😂

January

Just another away game day in Bellinzona, Ticino, the Italian part of Switzerland. The schedule, or the fact that traffic went smoothly, allowed for enough time to stroll through the Old Town and stumble upon a festive ice rink / Christmas village.

February

My lovely niece surprised us for my husband's birthday. She asked me to meet her at the train station where she arrived for a work meeting. She brought a home made cake!

March

We celebrated my own birthday watching a hockey game and enjoying dinner in Thun, a scenic medieval town.

April

We had such a gorgeous spring in 2024, it justifies two pictures!

Cherry blossoms in Zurich, Switzerland

Our trip to Amsterdam, in the Netherlands

May

The Swiss National Hockey Team won the silver medal (only losing to the host team in the finals) at the World Championship in Prague, Czech Republic, and we went to welcome them upon their return!

June

Again, a gorgeous month that deserves two pictures. Day out in the Bernese Alps, more precisely, Oeschinen Lake.

Sculpture Park in Bad Ragaz, the Southeastern part of Switzerland, with my Mom.

July

Colin and I played "dice the track" to find out where the train was going to take us. Among other destinations we ended up in Spiez, in the Bernese Highlands. You can see a pattern here, right? I seem to end up in this region on a regular basis. Well, you can't blame me, it's gorgeous!

August

2023 my husband's company celebrated its 30th anniversary, and the following year we invited the entire team and their families to spend a weekend in Munich, Germany. We were there the weekend not only Adele, but also Coldplay performed. Not that we had tickets though.

The city was accordingly crowded, but German authorities and U-Bahn (underground) employees did a good job organizing the tourists.

September

I'm gonna make this easy and just leave a pumpkin picture ;-) You may remember I was writing about it in the October UBC.

October

Two pictures, because fall is so beautiful! Last exception, I promise.

Colorful leaves in the city.

Visiting an acquaintance's house who always does an outstanding job decorating for Halloween.

November

Snow Day! More about it in one of the upcoming posts!

December

Just a random picture of a rare moment I got to enjoy a cup of coffee at home, let's call it "the calm before the storm" ;-)

I hope you enjoyed reviewing my 2024 - is any of these pictures a favorite of yours?

Spoiler: I may need to use half of the January UBC to look back on more of my December experiences, which were quite intense, and it'd be a shame not to share them. Hope you're part of the ride!

  3. Wow, this was such a delightful read—your Top Twelve feels like a cozy time capsule of 2024! Thanks for the Instagram tip; it’s such a fun way to reflect, and now I’ve discovered a glitch in my blog-to-Instagram flow to fix too. Here’s to a year of growth, discovery, and smooth posting ahead!

  5. Tamara, I think I keep up with your wonderful posts very well, during the year. But I had totally missed the sculpture garden, and that's my favorite image. Before I saw that today, I thought the pumpkin images were my favorites. :-)

  6. Lovely photos for an eventful year! The Bernese alps and the snowfall are my favourites. That clock with the red bow makes a perfect postcard. Happy New Year, Tamara! Not UBC related, but I have a similar photographic year-end roundup on my blog this week.
