Use Your Words - Beige

Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once, and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.

My words are:

beige ~ friends ~ warmth ~ fiddle ~ cut ~ rug

They were submitted by: The Bergham Chronicles  - Thank you, Jules!

During our walk last week Colin and I found this book full of fun pie and other charts. I like the authors, they are very observant. As an example they found out what ultimately makes you fat:

Red: chocolate
Blue: Ice cream
Yellow: chips
Purple: the lighting in the fitting room!!!

Speaking of trying on clothes, they also researched the age group that likes to wear beige stuff:

So I am the one who proves this statistic wrong: I think I was in my early 30s when I purchased a super soft cotton zip-up hoodie in eggshell / beige, whatever you wanna call it. It was my favorite piece of clothing for at least a decade. It literally started to fall apart, and with a heavy heart I decided it was time for it to retire.

I also happen to like beige home decor. We don't have any rugs at our home, but if we had they would be super soft and beige! I do like our comfy blankets and throw pillows for some warmth. However, this weekend the beige ones have to play second fiddle and share the spotlight with the green ones.

It's St. Patrick's Day after all, one of my favorite days of the year, and we're having friends over. Which reminds me I still have to prep a scavenger hunt. Colin asked for it to be less baby-is than in previous years!

Damn, I distinctly remember having taken the time to cut out shamrock shapes in all the colors of the rainbow!

In fact I like this holiday better than my own birthday, even though my recent one wasn't shabby at all. As you may know I share it with my Grandma, and she turned 99 this year, so we had a great celebration!

From left: my Mom, Colin, Grandma and I, my uncle (Mom's baby brother).

For dinner we went to my favorite panorama restaurant / steak house.

See, I'm wearing a beige jacket. I am sooo middle aged!

PS: Upon googling this color chart- it's called "shades of white" ;-))) I realized the official beige isn't exactly what I thought it was:

What are your thoughts on beige? Do you have a favorite color for your clothes? Do you celebrate St. Patrick's day?

Don't leave before checking out my blogger friends' posts:

  1. I like beige both in decor and clothes because it's a neutral and I can pair it with anything.

  2. I love beige too. Although, I am in the appropriate age group for that ...almost. Oldlace and Linen are in alot of my house decor. Clothingwise these days, however, I'm loving every shade of grey. Your St. Patricks decorations are adorable <3

  3. I like beige in my home decor especially paired with blue my favorite. For clothing though, I have to really watch myself or my whole wardrobe would be navy, black or gray. I have forbidden myself to buy them anymore, but it's a hard habit to break!

  4. Actually love the beiges and whites for home. Brighten up with a pop of color somewhere and when you get tired of that color, change it out!

  5. Beige can be a nice colour if paired with the right colour

  6. While I like beige, clothing in that colour doesn't look good on me. My skin is naturally pale and certain colours make me look like a ghost.

  7. I like beige. It quite literally goes with anything and I don't have to worry that my daughters will roll their eyes. Okay, they still will. But at least not over my colours . . .

  8. I'm colourblind, so I tend to gravitate towards bright colours (apparently being colourblind means I see the world duller than it is, maybe that's why?). But I still have beige in my wardrobe. It's a practical colour to have.

  9. I think the only thing beige I've ever owned were shoes. I like color and lots of it. I love the post and the photos/charts.
