One week down, three to go! Welcome to Day 8 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge. Hope you liked tagging along so far!
Today's prompt is to talk about the best part of the day, when we find the most joy.
As a kid, I never thought I would say "the best moment of the day is when I get to go to sleep."
And yet I have become that person ;-)
Another very enjoyable, yet short moment of the day is when the laundry hamper is empty!
Kidding aside though, I can think of a bunch of other best parts of the day, depending on what day, month or season it is.
If I have a rare day off, (that'd be a Sunday with no hockey game, or an afternoon game), of course the best part is sleeping in - I've been waiting for this to become a reality again for a decade. My baby, toddler and kid was an early riser. We're talking 5am!
After getting up, my favorite moment is having coffee. You're not surprised, right?
On a rare weekday off, the best part is to enjoy some me-time. Pre pandemic I used to enjoy going to the mall. Not so much anymore. These days I prefer doing something less people-y.
In fall, this may be a visit to the pumpkin farm.
Or treat myself to a lunch in the city.
By the end of this month it'll be time for the Elf on the Shelf again, so the best part of the day will be to - hopefully - see the smile on Colin's face when he discovers what they have been up to.
In younger years we would also have an advent calendar, but frankly we have too much stuff and sweets as it is, so currently the daily prompts from Paul are my very own little advent calendar. There's a little surprise coming my way every day!
I feel like I'm one of the very few who even uses the prompts. I don't mind if people try to make money with their blogs, but if the product and service ads come without any "real" content?
I am all the more happy that I found a handful of others who are taking the writing part seriously and are also interested in connecting with other bloggers. If you're one of them: Thank you! :-)
Here are some shoutouts - in alphabetical order, in case you're wondering:
Carol at Battered Hope - "Do it right, do it now" is one of her mottos. I couldn't agree more!
Cheryl from Cheryl Tondreau - She's all about nurturing herself and others.
Debi at Debi Gray Walter - "Be a pineapple", she says. Why? Find out for yourself
Janet over at Janet's Smiles - Head over and catch one of her smiles!
Julie from Creative Midwife - She's the first literal tree hugger I "met".
Kate at Tomaso's last breath - "Your dog is your harmony barometer", she claims.
Lily from One Thousand and Two - She had me at "if we were having coffee together"!
Martha at The Martha Review - An entrepreneur refusing to just retire and do nothing.
Do you have a favorite part of the day? What is it?
Let me know below.
My favorite part of the day is petting my cats.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I am with you on the sleep and lunch parts! LOL. I love the sushi pictures... I might have to order out for lunch today and get me a couple of rolls.
ReplyDeleteI am glad the topics are helping - some folks use them while others decide to pass on them and go with their own topic. To each their own!
Thanks for participating in the UBC.
Be Well.
Paul.
My favorite part of the day is just before sunrise. I love to make my hot tea, cozy up on the couch on a chilly morning, light a candle, and have my quiet time with my Bible and journal in hand. I could linger there for hours, and often I do!
ReplyDeleteI love the prompts too! 🥰
Blessings,
Debi 🍂🍃🍁
I, too, look forward to the email from Paul every day this month. Participating in this challenge and spending time reading the blogs has been fun. So many creative writers.
ReplyDeleteI have never down elf on the shelf. That must be so fun to try to come with interesting things every day. I love your pictures.
Once boys hit teen years and puberty, their internal clock often flips, so they are awake at night and sleep all day - you won't be far off weekend sleep-ins!
ReplyDeleteA favorite part of my day is when I have a conversation with my friends- and thankfully broadly includes my clients, my co-workers/employees, as well as just friends. I'm a lucky guy to have such great times.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the mention, Tamara. Mornings are my sweet spot. I love how you find yours in different spots. You have such an ease in your writing. It's sweet to spend time with you.
ReplyDeleteAwww! Thank you for including me in your shout out. Proud to be the first tree-hugger. I don't use the prompts much and I love when I read yours because they give me ideas of future blog posts. For the first week, I wrote all 7 posts in one sitting - which felt amazingly great. Glad to be here again to "visit"with you as I drink my first cup of coffee almost as if I am with you. (PS - I am less "people-y" <-- misspelled, I am sure... then I was pre-pandemic.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for including me in your list! We never got into the Elf on a Shelf tradition and truthfully now I hardly decorate at all, for any holiday. Just a tree at Christmas. We have so much stuff all over the house as it is, it's become too much work. Coffee is a must! I'll be off to check your other recommended blogs after I write my next one - so behind now.
