Welcome back to October's Ultimate Blog Challenge. Today's assignment is to
List your favorite Non-Work related Activities
Ha, how much time you got?
It's hockey season, so my list starts with
- Attending my son's hockey games
- Filming and putting together videos of the youth team's games
- Attending my grown-up team's game or watch on TV
I have to tell you this random anecdote in my capacity as an involved hockey fan. This Friday we went to my team's away game. The opponent was the team my husband and his cousin root for. This reunion alone made it a great night.
My team already led 3:0 after 10 minutes and ended up winning 4:1, so that was an additional reason for joy. During the first intermission an acquaintance of mine - and fellow Hockey Mom - who works as a staff member for the opponent, came by to say hello.
She told me that they have to deal with an old laptop that makes their job harder instead of easier. These people who work as timekeepers, penalty box attendants, etc. do it voluntarily in their spare time and deserve a little recognition.
I work in IT myself, and decided I would love to provide this team with a new piece of equipment, and that's what I said to hubby. He agreed and said, he'd be happy to take care of it - after all he's the team's fan, not me - but one of the team's main sponsors is actually an IT company, and they should make sure the staff has appropriate gadgets to do their job.
He is absolutely right. So today I sent an e-mail to that IT company telling them about the circumstances under which this team has to work, and I pretty much nicely told them to gift them a new notebook. Along with my "demand" I even had a suggestion on how to go about it:
In the old days there used to be a visit from Santa Claus at the stadium on the first weekend of December. If this is still the case, maybe this year he could have a tablet or laptop in his bag, I suggested.
So now I'm holding my breath, hoping to hear from them, and of course hoping they'll say they had no idea, thanks for letting them know, they'll take care of it.
On with my list of activities.
It's fall, so my list goes on to include
- Trips to a handful of pumpkin patches
- Planning Halloween-related things like decoration and baked goods
It's also two months before Christmas, meaning it's one month before our Elves make a comeback.
- I'm busy hatching plans! We've been doing Elf on the Shelf activities since 2012, and I feel I've used up every idea; baking magic cupcakes, walking in stilts, roasting S'mores, selling "Lemonade" that isn't what it appears to be, and many, many more.
I could go on and tell you about non-work related things I like to do, but I'll leave it at that. In conclusion, let me use today's official writing prompt, provided by our host, Paul, at Social Maestro:
Thank you so much for visiting by blog. Let me ask you: what would you like to know? What question would you like answered? Go ahead, ask me anything! Tomorrow, I'll pick one or two (or a few) questions and answer them for you! So, leave a comment and ask me a question!
Crossing my fingers for the team that Santa comes through! You know my favorite non work activities, baking with Lia and sewing! Love your cupcakes. 🤗

ReplyDeleteYou certainly keep yourself occupied! I'll pray that the team gets the laptop they need.
ReplyDeleteTamara, I loved the passion of your post today! Question: have you always lived in Switzerland? Or places that get cold? Where? Question: when did hockey come into your life? Do you ice skate or just love to watch hockey? <3
